Global Energy Scenarios through 2050: An In-Depth Look at the Future of Energy

Have you ever wondered how close is the world to achieving the Paris Agreement goal – keeping the temperature rise under 2°C?

Countries around the world have announced their general strategy of efforts for 2030 (e.g., RePower EU). However, the long-term steps, while crucial, still remain uncertain. Thus, now the focus for policymakers is developing objectives for 2040 and 2050 decades. But once they are announced how do we determine which levers will be the most efficient in bringing us there?

The Enerdata methodology assesses policies, technologies, past patterns and other drivers, to determine plausible scenarios for energy demand and related GHG emissions that the world could generate by 2050, along with other results produced by the factors mentioned above.

During the webinar we will answer such questions:

  • How fast do we shift away from fossil fuels, depending on our global climate ambition?
  • How should we transform the way we consume energy to reach our climate commitments?
  • To which extent are economic sectors contributing to GHG emission reductions?
  • What’s next on the agenda for EU policymakers?
